CT Scanner

CT is essentially a 3D x-ray, taking very fine slices through the required body areas and CT is much more sensitive than radiography. CT is especially useful for assessing joints such as the elbows, checking for metastasis (cancerous spread) and assessing respiratory or gastrointestinal disease, amongst other things. At Claro Hill, we accept cases for CT imaging only on an outpatient basis. The patient will have blood tests prior to anaesthesia and we will run the scans to gain the images but will not have any clinical input in the case. We will not discuss diagnosis or treatment plans with the clients. The images will be sent externally to a diagnostic imager and a comprehensive report will be sent back to the referring vet for ongoing management of the case.

Cat only consult room and cattery
We are biased but we love our cat only consult room and the cats that visit do too! We a have a climbing wall and house for them to explore, a jar full of treats and licky mats to distract them from injections. We use Feliway and Pet Remedy products to put them at ease and it's a strictly "no dogs allowed" zone. We also have a quiet cattery tucked away from potentially noisy dogs and ISFM gold standard sized kennels with hideaway cat castles and blankets only used for cats.
Laboratory
Our in-house lab allows us to perform an array of tests with same day results, ideal to aid in the diagnosis of disease and the routine monitoring of chronic illnesses. We also have a regular courier to a highly respected external laboratory and have the assistance of specialists there on hand.
Surgery
We have two sterile operating theatres plus an additional treatment room for dentistry, endoscopy and those less clean procedures! We offer a variety of routine surgeries, soft tissue procedures and we can arrange for peripatetic surgeons to come and perform more complex orthopaedic operations.
Dental X-ray
We have a dedicated dental room with X-ray facilities, which allows us to look at the health of your pet's teeth below the gum line. We all know dental pain can be excruciating. Our pets can't tell us they are in pain and often will continue to eat despite having unhealthy teeth. Regular dental checks, descaling and polishing can make a huge difference to your pet's oral health. We go to the dentist twice a year so why shouldn't we look after our dog or cat's teeth?!
Ultrasound
Investment has been put in to our equipment for us to be able to work up cases to the best of our ability, and this includes a high quality veterinary ultrasound scanner. This can be used for diagnosing diseases of the bladder, kidneys, liver, uterus, chest and heart to name a few! It can also be used for pregnancy diagnosis for those happy times!
Hip and elbow scoring
We aim to encourage responsible breeding and as part of this offer hip and elbow scoring. The x-rays are performed under sedation with our experienced vets and nurses. Prices are as follows: Hip scoring £240. Elbow scoring £300. Hip and elbow scoring £350. Plus the submission fee. We are also looking to hosting heart scans and eye testing so watch this space.....

Out of hours

Out of hours emergency care is provided for us at  Swift Referrals (Thorp Arch) and Bishopton Vets (Ripon). It is your choice which clinic you attend depending on your drive time. As much as we would love to be able to offer our own out of hours provision and understand how important the familiarity is to owners, we are sadly unable see emergencies after closing time.
