CT is essentially a 3D x-ray, taking very fine slices through the required body areas and CT is much more sensitive than radiography. CT is especially useful for assessing joints such as the elbows, checking for metastasis (cancerous spread) and assessing respiratory or gastrointestinal disease, amongst other things. At Claro Hill, we accept cases for CT imaging only on an outpatient basis. The patient will have blood tests prior to anaesthesia and we will run the scans to gain the images but will not have any clinical input in the case. We will not discuss diagnosis or treatment plans with the clients. The images will be sent externally to a diagnostic imager and a comprehensive report will be sent back to the referring vet for ongoing management of the case.
Out of hours emergency care is provided for us at Swift Referrals (Thorp Arch) and Bishopton Vets (Ripon). It is your choice which clinic you attend depending on your drive time. As much as we would love to be able to offer our own out of hours provision and understand how important the familiarity is to owners, we are sadly unable see emergencies after closing time.
